Local hockey player Victoria Howran was awarded with a certificate of congratulation by Bancroft Council.
Howran, who placed second with team Canada during the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championships, was given the certificate by Mayor Bernice Jenkins at a meeting of council held yesterday. She attended the meeting surrounded by her family, silver medal in hand.
Local MP Mike Bossio even came out to congratulate her.
Another celebration is being held to recognize Howran’s accomplishments ahead of the Bancroft Motors Midget Jets’ Saturday night playoff game against Campbellford. The celebration takes place at 7:45pm at the North Hastings Community Centre.
