GPS monitoring coming to Hastings Highlands municipal vehicles

Hastings Highlands will soon be monitoring its municipal vehicles with GPS equipment.

A report was presented to council, showing the cost of buying the equipment is just under $25,000, which has been budgeted for.

It would also cost the municipality just over $1,000 a month to have the vehicles monitored.

Operations Manager Adrian Tomasini says the equipment will benefit the municipality as it would be able to know where vehicles are in the case of an emergency or liability.

It would also be able to measure the speed of a vehicle, or when an employee started.
