Council considers future of Purdy – Bangor rink

Hastings Highlands council is considering what to do about the Purdy – Bangor skating rink.

A notice of motion was put forward to council, asking the municipality to provide funding in order to open the rink this winter.

The motion sets out the rink was not operational last winter because a snow blower was stolen, along with damages to it. The motion also suggests installing a security camera at the rink could help reduce vandalism.

Operations Manager Adrian Tomasini estimates it could cost the municipality up to $15,000 to fix. A report on the cost of fixing the rink will be brought forward at the next council meeting.
