Our local MPP does not think you will save money after province cancels second phase of the Long Range Plan

Our local MPP says the province’s decision to stop signing renewable energy contracts comes five years too late.

The provincial government announced yesterday, that it would not be going forward with the second phase of the Long Range Plan. This means it will not be signing new wind and solar power contracts.

Prince-Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith says this will not save people money, as there are still phase one projects still underway. Smith says this will not offer anyone relief from current hydro prices either.

The provincial conservatives are still working towards getting the government to stop the sale of Hydro One.
