Hastings County’s Economic Region now has a lower unemployment rate than the provincial average.
Statistics Canada is reporting the Kingston-Pembroke Economic Region’s January 2017 unemployment rate is four per cent, which is a two point seven per cent drop from last year. The unemployment rate across Ontario is six per cent for January 2017.
Bancroft’s unemployment rate was 7.1 per cent according to the 2011 census, although up-to-date labour statistics are expected to be released in November in the 2016 census.
