World Down Syndrome Day being recognized by local public school board

Today is meant to recognize how those with Down Syndrome play a vital role in our communities.

That’s the message from the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, as we recognize World Down Syndrome Day. It’s held each year on March 21st, to raise awareness about what Down Syndrome is.

North Hastings Community Integration Manager of Independent Living Tina Surma says it’s important to look at people’s skills and talents, instead of focusing on a disability.
