The North Hastings area is going to see an influx of cottagers heading into the Victoria Day Long Weekend.
Because of that, North Hastings Fire Chief Pat Hoover is reminding them to check the batteries and expiry dates in their smoke and CO alarms, and replace them if needed.
Hoover says it’s important for everyone to remember that daytime burning is prohibited in the region.
Hoover wants all cottagers to remember to check their chimneys when they arrive.
Hoover also reminds you to make sure your 911 signs are visible at the end of your driveway so emergency services can find you if they need to.
