Hastings County emergency services says residents in the region have higher rates of obesity along with high blood pressure and chronic conditions.
Stats Canada reports an average of 52 per cent of Canadians are obese or overweight, while that number is closer to 60 per cent in Hastings County according to its emergency services.
County dispatch says calls in the Bancroft area are up by about six per cent since 2014, putting it ahead of Quinte West, Belleville and Picton.
Hastings emergency services says it’s looking to be more proactive moving forward in 2017.
