Warning signs at beaches could mean bacteria levels are high

If you see a warning sign posted at a beach in Haliburton County, don’t get in the water.

That’s the message from the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, which says it will once again start testing beaches across the county for E.coli and other bacteria. If the bacteria level in the water is high, the health unit will post a warning sign at the beach.

The health unit will be testing the Glamour Lake, Gooderham Lake, Lake Wilbermere, and Paudash Lake beaches in Highlands East.

Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health will also be testing beaches in the North Hastings area.
