Highway 62 will be closed near the Eagles Nest Park until further notice.
That’s according to Public Works Manager Perry Kelly, who says a broken dam in the park has caused a washout on the road. Kelly says the amount of water coming off the Eagles Nest, and infrastructure near the road, will delay the process of reopening it.
There is no word yet on when it will be reopened.
Emergency Crews are on hand to control traffic and have set up detours. Northbound traffic is being redirected onto Snow Road, while southbound traffic is being sent to Maxwell Settlement Road. OPP Sergeant Dwayne Sears says South Baptiste Lake Road has also been designated as a detour for traffic heading in both directions.
