Police remind you it’s the law to report collisions on the road

A Whitby man is facing charges after crashing his vehicle into a ditch in Hastings Highlands.

It happened on Salmon Trout Lane early on the morning of July 15th.

Bancroft OPP says the man had been drinking before the crash, and assaulted another person who called the police to report the collision. The 43-year-old now faces charges for impaired driving, failing to comply with probation, and operating a vehicle without insurance.

The man did not alert police about the crash, which has prompted Bancroft OPP to remind you it’s the law to report any collision which involves road violations, personal injury, or damage over $2,000. Disobeying the law could result in charges.
