Hastings Highlands Operations Manager advises against new sand storage building

Hastings Highlands Council is being advised against putting up a new sand storage building at the Maynooth Patrol Yard.

The Ministry of Transportation has proposed the municipality spend more than half a million dollars to put up a sand storage building for winter maintenance. Operations Manager Adrian Tomasini says the suggestion comes as the municipality will not be allowed to use the current facility after this winter.

Tomasini says it’s not feasible for the municipality to spend so much on putting up a new building on land that belongs to the MTO. He goes on to say he has not had the chance to look at alternatives to the proposal yet.

The municipality will be able to use the current facility this year.
