Hospice North Hastings responds to concerns over LED sign in Maynooth

Hospice North Hastings says it will wait for direction from Hastings Highlands Council about an LED sign it operates in Maynooth.

This stems from a request to council to have the LED sign turned off every night between 10:00pm and 7:00am.

Communications Coordinator Barb Shaw says the billboard was put up four years ago as part of hospice’s fundraising program. Hospice sells advertisements on the sign, but also provides them for free for Hastings Highlands, non-profit groups, and when there are emergency situations like fire bans, road closures, or Amber Alerts. Shaw also says the sign is a way to welcome visitors to the community.

Hastings Highlands Council has said it will look into the issue further.
