A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for Northern Peterborough County.

Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms are expected to touchdown to the northwest of Apsley, which could produce 50 to 75 millimetres of rain and two centimetres of nickel size hail.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. You are being reminded, when thunder roads, go indoors.

Meanwhile, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Bancroft area.

Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms could develop this afternoon and into the evening. These thunderstorms could come with winds gusting up to 90 kilometres an hour, two centimetres of hail, and heavy downpours.

You are being reminded to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
