Services staying in Bancroft despite QHC facing $11.5 million deficit for 2016/2017

The North Hastings Hospital is staying open and essential services are remaining on-site.

This is coming from Quinte Health Care, which announced Monday that it’s facing an $11.5 million deficit for the 2016/2017 fiscal year starting April 1, 2016.

QHC Senior Director of Communications Susan Rowe says the team’s four hospitals – Bancroft, Belleville, Trenton and Prince Edward County – will stay open and keep their 24 hour emergency departments, diagnostic services and inpatients beds.  But she says staffing changes are just some of the recommendations that are being proposed to help balance the budget.

The changes are based on feedback from close to 1,000 residents and a health advisory committee in Quinte.  QHC is looking for your opinion in an online survey that can be found at www.qhc.on.ca.
