A new initiative will see it become illegal to smoke on any hospital grounds as of 2016. This includes smoking in hospital parking lots.
However, the ruling may not apply to North Hastings Hospital, as Quinte Health Care says it does not own the land.
The land belongs to the county of Hastings, and it say they will review the policy and make a decision from there. The county says as of right now, people are not allowed to smoke within 9 metres of the hospital.
