Petawawa Soldiers to Participate in Major Training Exercises

Approximately 2800 soldiers from Petawawa will participate in “Exercise Maple Resolve” from May 5th to June 1st, and “Exercise Rugged Bear” from June 5th to 14th, at Wainwright, Alberta. Maple Resolve is the final and confirming exercise on the Road to High Readiness for the soldiers of Second Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2 CMBG). The exercise will have a lot of realistic scenarios of full operations, including counter-insurgency tactics, against an opposing force. Rugged Bear is a live-fire exercise which will challenge infantry companies, artillery batteries and engineer squadron. The final objective is for the 2 CMBG is to be at “High Readiness” status by July 1st, and be prepared to form Task Force 1-14 and Task Force 2-14, for the next mission that the Canadian Government sends the Canadian Army into.
