The North Hastings “Be a Donor” event was held this past Saturday. Event coordinators Kim Sutherland and Steve Scally welcomed the public to the Loyalist College Campus in Bancroft, to learn more about the Trillium Gift of Life program for organ donations in Ontario. Both of them are also living donors, meaning they have already donated an organ to someone else. A number of members of the public attended to learn more and to register. The two coordinators were very pleased that the first person to come into the college to register as an organ donor was her worship Bernice Jenkins, the Mayor of Bancroft. Many younger people reported via social media that they had also gone on-line to register at beadonor.ca. The month of April is “Be a Donor” month.
