Quinte Region Student Gets Prized Youth Trip Scholarship

Theresa DeCola, a Bayside Secondary student, has been selected for the Potash Corp’s Food Security Youth Trip Scholarship. In partnership with “Free the Children,” and “Me to We,” Potash Corp has chosen 25 students from across Canada students, who are interested in the issue of food security, and offered them an opportunity to volunteer in India next summer. Theresa, and the others, will learn first-hand about sustainable development and bring the spirit of global citizenship back to their schools and communities. This program is also aimed at helping the students to develop valuable leadership and interpersonal skills.

This is not just the only honour Theresa has received this year. At the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair 2014 Theresa was one of five students to receive the Belleville Kiwanis Canada-wide Science Fair Award. Theresa will be travelling to Windsor from May 10th to 17th, to compete with 500 other students from across Canada at the Canada-wide Science Fair.
