A tentative settlement on local bargaining issues was reached last night between the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and support staff with CUPE Local 1022.
Chair of the Board, Dwayne Inch states that both sides negotiated for a lengthy period of time in a respectful manner and came to agreeable terms. He says CUPE support staff play important roles in educating students, and they appreciate their contributions to student achievement and well-being.
Lee-Ann Evans, President of the local branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees thanks its members for their support and dedication through this process.
A press release from the school board says ratification votes by both parties will take place in the coming weeks, and that no other details will be released at this time.
