Fiddle sensation Julie Fitzgerald did well in the CBC Searchlight contest. With the help of all your votes, Julie made it into the Top 10 for the Ottawa region. Julie entered the contest with her original composition “While the Boys are Away at the Barn.” Julie and her family group: “Everything Fitz,” is currently on tour in western Canada and the U.S. In a note sent to the Moose, Julie expresses her thanks everyone who supported her.
More than 4,000 acts entered CBC’s Searchlight contest, spanning genres and regions, and creating a massive showcase for talent in this country. The final winner was Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk from Brooks, Alberta, for their song, “I Lost Myself.”
