OPP Concerned about Off-road and motorcycle deaths

Ontario Provincial Police is reporting that off-road vehicle (ORV) and motorcycle deaths have reached a four-year high and the causes have police concerned heading into the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Twenty people died in ORV incidents investigated by the OPP in 2013, compared to 12 in 2012 and 28 motorcyclists were also killed in 2013. Many of these deaths were due to not using a helmet or involved alcohol. Motorcyclists are more vulnerable than other road users because motorcycles are tougher to see than other vehicles and they have virtually no protection in the event of a crash. In some cases, the motorcyclists were not the ones doing anything wrong when the collision occurred. So all motorists need to be on watch for motorcycles.
