Local Health Unit Achieves Baby-Friendly Initiative Designation

The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit has achieved the “Baby-Friendly Initiative” (BFI) designation, by The Breastfeeding Committee of Canada. The Health Unit is the fifteenth public health agency out of 36 in Ontario to achieve this celebrated designation. The Baby-Friendly Initiative global initiative was launched in 1991 by the World Health Organization and UNICEF to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding all around the world. This designation ensures that all families in Hastings and Prince Edward counties will continue to receive high quality infant feeding services from Health Unit staff.
