Peterborough County OPP is investigating the theft of firearms from a seasonal residence north of Cavendish, in Peterborough County. Sometime between June 5th and 6th, unknown persons tried to steal a tractor from the home, but after driving it a short distance, the vehicle became damaged and the thieves left it on the driveway. The suspects then broke into a trailer on the property and forced open a locked storage area, from which they stole 4 firearms: a 16 gauge bolt action Mossberg shotgun, a 12 gauge single shot Baikal shotgun, a 7 mm Bolt action Savage rifle and 303 calibre, bolt action Parker-Hale rifle. None of the firearms have been recovered at this time. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
