The town of Bancroft has been asked to remove ‘No use of Jake Brake’ signs in the area.
A letter from Jacobs Vehicle Systems has been sent to the town, saying the term ‘Jake Brake’ is a trademarked term, meaning the town may not legally be allowed to use it on signs.
The company says ‘Jake Brakes’ are not the only type of engine brakes, and that a properly muffled engine should not be too loud.
The company is suggesting the signs read no improperly muffled engine brakes.
