Bancroft 2014 Relay for Life Happens Tonight

The 2014 Bancroft Relay for Life starts this evening, at 7:00 p.m., in Millennium Park. The event runs for 12 hours, with teams relaying throughout the night, around a track in the park. Teams raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and experience the dark path that cancer patients go along during their diagnosis and treatment. There will a lot of fun involved as well and last minute participants or donations can be brought to the site today. The theme for this year is “Choppers,” or motorcycles. It coincides with the traditional Port Dover “Friday the 13th Ride.” Event organizers are hoping to raise $75,000 in this the tenth year of Relay here in Bancroft. The public is invited to attend the opening ceremonies at 7:00 p.m. and to purchase a Luminary candle to support a cancer survivor or remember those who have lost the battle. The Relay ends at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
