Huge Theft Ring Busted – Centre Hastings Man Involved

Northumberland OPP, along with the Brockville Police, busted a huge theft ring. Police have been working since February investigating thefts that have occurred over the last decade throughout the region. The recovered stolen items include everything from pickup trucks to tractors and combines. The items had been stolen from Centre Hastings, Stirling Rawdon Township, Peterborough County, Haliburton County, Cobourg, Brockville, York Region, Toronto, and Northumberland County, between 2003 and this year. Four men have been charged in the bust, including a 49 year-old Centre Hastings man. The Centre Hastings man appears to be the ring leader as he is facing the bulk of the charges, including of six counts of Theft Over $5000, Possession Burglary Tools, five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, five counts of Removing or Destroying or Altering VINs and four counts of Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime.

1– Honda 100cc motorcycle
1 – Honda rotor-tiller
1 – John Deere loader/back-hoe
1 – John Deere excavator
2 – Bobcat skid-steer
2 – 14’ dump trailers
2 – 16’ enclosed cargo trailers

The other three men have been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Over $5000 or Theft Over $5000. The investigation is continuing.
