The OPP Warning About New Synthetic Drug

Two Peterborough residents have been arrested in a large drug bust, involving a synthetic material that has police concerned for the users’ health. The OPP Drug Enforcement Section and the Canada Border Services Agency stopped a shipment of 60 kilograms of methylone recently. It is one of the illegal designer street drugs that have been linked to violent delusions and even death. In addition to the desired more pleasant side effects of the drug, users may experience a loss of inhibitions, elevated body temperature, increased heart rate and breathing, changes in blood pressure, seizures, erratic behaviour and coma.
