There have been a number of deaths reported on waterways over the past couple of weeks, and many of these deaths could have been prevented by one piece of safety equipment. Community Safety groups and the police are asking eveyone who boats to always wear a personal floatation device (PFD) or lifejacket when out on the water. The law with regards one PFD or lifejacket for every person on a boat, but they are of no use if not worn. Deaths resulting from drowning are preventable.
