New Hope for Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease

A medical team from the Douglas Mental Health Institute and McGill University in MontrĂ©al has discovered a common genetic variation in the human body that can offer protection against the common form of Alzheimer’s disease. Doctor Judes Poirier says that it can also delay the onset of the disease by as much as four years. The large-scale study involved with the discovery has the team hoping to identify ways to make medications to treat Alzheimer’s disease. There have not been many breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s disease treatments recently.
