Canada’s mineral capitol has opened its doors to the world, as one of the biggest local events of the year in Bancroft is officially underway. The opening ceremonies for the 51st annual Rockhound Jemboree took place this morning. Dignitaries on hand this morning included our local M.P. Daryl Kramp, M.P.P. Todd Smith, and Bancroft Deputy Mayor Wayne Wiggins. The Bancroft Curling Club and the North Hastings Community Centre are the main venues for the Jemboree. Various vendors, displays, workshops and presentations will take place over the next four days. Field trips are also available to get out and scour for hidden gems.
