Fines totaling $2,250 have been levied against two Bancroft area men for the illegal trapping of beaver and fisher. An investigation began last March when the MNR received a complaint about illegal trapping. Dale MacDonald has been fined $500 for trapping during the closed season, $500 for making false statements in an application for a license, fined $250 for possession of illegally-killed wildlife. His trapping license has been suspended for one year. Dewayne Simpson has been fined $500 for obstructing a conservation officer and another $500 for trapping more fur-bearing mammals than his license allowed. His trapping license was also suspended for a year.
