Human Trafficking in Belleville

A man and a woman have been arrested and one man is still being sought by police on Human Trafficking and other charges. Belleville Police have rescued a woman who was being held against her will and forced into the sex trade. Police used search and arrest warrants at a Moira Street residence on Monday where they took two people into custody. A 23 year-old Quinte Region man remains at large and is being sought. Charges laid so far include: Human Trafficking: Forcible Confinement; Material Benefit; Exploitation; Extortion; Living on the Avails of Prostitution; Uttering Threats and Assault Causing Bodily Harm, against a 20 year-old Belleville woman; and charges of Human Trafficking; Forcible Confinement and Assault Causing Bodily Harm have been laid against a 22 year-old Belleville man. The third suspect will be charged with Human Trafficking: Forcible Confinement; Material Benefit; Exploitation; Extortion; Living on the Avails of Prostitution and Uttering Threats. As the investigation continues more charges may be laid.
