Canada to Give Experimental Ebola Vaccine to the World Health Organization

Doses of an experimental Ebola vaccine, developed in Canada, will be donated to the World Health Organization to help in the fight against the ongoing Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Although the vaccine, VSV-EBOV, has never been tested in humans, it has shown promise in animal research. 800 to 1,000 doses will be donated for research and clinical trials. A small supply of the vaccine will also be kept here in Canada in case we need it. So far, Canada has given over five million dollars in support against the Ebola outbreak. This Ebola outbreak is the largest on record.
