Trent University Researcher Says Humans Contribute to Climate Change

A Trent University professor, along with an international team of scientists, say that the increase in the loss of glacier ice is mostly due to human activities. A paper published in the journal Science says that about one-quarter of the global glacier loss between 1851 and 2010 was caused by humans, but since 2010 human activity is now responsible for almost two-thirds of the overall loss. Glacier ice melt causes sea levels to rise, changes the availability of water resources and increases hazards such as landslides and floods. All the world’s glaciers outside Antarctica were included in the study. Doctor Graham Cogley of Trent University says their finding means that those people who believe climatic change is not mostly our fault, are running out of places to hide.
