Fleming College Students Finished

The last day for the Fleming College Students in Bancroft was on Friday and the Town of Bancroft sent them off with much gratitude and appreciation. Mayor Bernice Jenkins thanked the students for their contributions to the new building in the Riverside Park. Jane Mayberry and Gwen Coish of Bancroft Community Transit, the group behind the sustainable building project, also thanked the students saying that they hoped the Students would appreciate the significance of what they have done here. Bothe the Town and BCT presented mementos and certificates of appreciation to the students, who in turn made a few presentations as well. The President of Fleming College, Dr. Tony Tilley, was present and thanked the Town for the opportunity to showcase the Sustainable Building Program in Bancroft. He added that the students, who learned as they built, have now left a legacy for the Town and themselves. Most of the students will be leaving the area to pursue employment opportunities, some as far as British Columbia. Three students will remain in Bancroft to continue with new jobs.
