Haliburton Man Injured in Bear Encounter

A 30 year-old Haliburton man is being treated for his injuries after an encounter with a bear. On Sunday evening the man let his dog out and heard it yelp. When the man checked, his dog was being confronted by a black bear. The man attempted to rescue his dog and was attacked by the bear. The bear left and the man took himself to hospital for treatment. Hospital staff contacted police and the MNR was alerted and began an investigation. The OPP reminds you that bear encounters are not uncommon and bears should be treated with caution.
