Two Apsley men have been fined $5,500 for deer hunting offences.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says a man was fined $1,000 for shooting a deer with a shotgun in December, when only bows and muzzle-loaders are allowed. The deer was hurt, but managed to run towards a road, where the man shot it again.
Another man came to help drag the deer’s body away, which resulted in a $500 fine.
Both men have also been fined $2,000 each for using a firearm carelessly, along with two-year hunting licence suspensions and probation.
