CIBC Says Ontario About to Rebound

Ontario’s economy is set to be the single biggest beneficiary of strong U.S. growth and a weakening Canadian dollar over the next two years, and that could boost provincial government coffers by 4 to 5 billion dollars, according to a new report from CIBC World Markets. The report calls for Ontario’s economy to grow by 2.8 per cent next year, second only to Alberta. In 2016, real growth is forecast at 2.4 per cent, and that is still above the national average. Employment is also expected to improve.
