Bossio welcomes recommendations to address Indigenous suicide crisis

The Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP says he is looking forward to action to fight the Indigenous suicide crisis.

MP Mike Bossio says suicide rates among Canada’s Indigenous people are disproportionately high, and need to be addressed.

This comes as the federal government has been handed a report on the issue, with 28 recommendations to address the factors that affect the health and well-being of Indigenous people. These include increasing support for housing, education, infrastructure, and economic development, improving access to mental health services, providing Indigenous communities with long-term, stable, predictable funding, and supporting their solutions and self-determination.

Bossio says it’s time to work together with Indigenous people to help end the crisis for good.
