Kidde Recalls Residential Smoke and Combination Smoke/CO Alarms

Health Canada and Kidde has issued a recall for some residential smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. The models being recalled are KN-COSM-IBACA, i12010S-CO-CA and i12010S-CA. These models were sold between January 2nd and May 13th of this year. Labels showing the model number and date code are on the back of the alarms. The recall notice says that if a power outage happens while the alarm is doing a self check it may fail to work when there is smoke and/or carbon monoxide. North Hastings Fire Services urges you to immediately check the model and date on all your smoke and smoke/CO alarms. If you think you have one of these units call Kidde Canada toll-free at 1-888-784-2323 (between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) about a free replacement. Do not stop using the old alarm until you get a new replacement. For more information and pictures of the devices visit www.healthycanadians.gc.ca and click on recalls and alerts.
