Police hope to solve death in Algonquin Park by releasing clay facial reconstruction

The OPP is hoping a clay facial reconstruction will help figure out the identity of remains found in Algonquin Park in 1980.

Police have released the three-dimensional model of a young man’s face in the hopes it will prompt someone to provide new information.

The young man’s remains were found by a hiker using the Hardwood Lookout Trail near Whitney. A size 11 Greb-brand boot, a wallet with no ID, clothes, a black sleeping bag, a camp stove, and an aluminum cooking pot were found nearby.

Police say more remains were found in 1995, which suggest the man was white, 18 to 29 years old, with six to 11 inch blonde hair. Police have not determined the cause of death, but it is believed to have happened between July 1st 1971 and the spring of 1978.
