Holly Tetzlaff, this year’s winner at the Quinte Regional Science Fair and gold medal winner at the 2014 Canada-wide Science Fair has now had the chance for her research to be taken to the real world. Last week, Holly was invited to a media event at the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant, where she was recognized with an Award of Excellence for outstanding research and environmental awareness. She also received a congratulatory award for her gold medal win. Holly’s project, “Environmental Impact of Shifting Consumer Hygiene Trends,” showed that flushable wipes don’t break down in municipal septic systems.
