Low-cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics This Weekend

Rabies vaccination for cats and dogs is mandatory in Hastings County and is the best defence for protecting pets and humans against the fatal disease. The health unit has joined forces with local veterinarians to provide low-cost rabies vaccination, for animals older than three months, is this Saturday October 4th. The price is $25 per animal. Cats and dogs must be caged or on a leash to attend the clinics.

You can help to prevent the spread of rabies with the following guidelines:

Make sure pets are vaccinated against rabies.

Never touch an animal you don’t know.

Do not touch dead, hurt or sick animals.

Warn children to stay away from wild or stray animals.

Do not keep wildlife, including raccoons, as pets.

Contact your municipal animal control agency if you see a potentially rabid animal.

If you are bitten or scratched by any animal, contact your health care provider as well as the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit at 966-5500 ext. 677 to report the incident.

Bancroft at the Faraday Animal Hospital on Highway 28 South from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Boulter at the Carlow Township Garage from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Coe Hill at the Wollaston Township Garage from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Gilmour at the Tudor-Cashel Township Garage from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Maynooth at the Maynooth Fire Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
