Police remind you it’s important to buckle up

The Bancroft OPP is reminding you to properly wear your seat belt to protect yourself in case of a crash.

Constable Philippe Regamey says there is a right way to put your seat belt on.

The Ministry of Transportation also reminds you to make sure your seat belt isn’t twisted, because it won’t spread the force across your body and protect you properly if you’re in a collision.

Regamey goes on to say that it’s also important to set a good example for your kids by buckling up.

The MTO reports you can be fined up to $1,000 and face two demerit points if you or someone under 16 in your vehicle isn’t properly wearing a seat belt.
