Abandoned car investigation in Highlands East leads to 48 charges

Bancroft OPP has laid almost 50 charges against three people after an abandoned vehicle was found in Highlands East.

Police say the abandoned vehicle was reported at a home in the municipality on July 15th. Police found stolen property inside, and began an investigation with the help of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit and the Durham Regional Police.

As a result, three people were arrested, and face a combined total of 48 charges related to theft, using stolen credit cards, break and enters, and possession of drugs. This includes a 32-year-old Scarborough man, a 36-year-old Whitby woman, and a youth whose identity cannot be released.
