Report: Ontario’s moose population drops 20 per cent in past decade

A recent report suggests Ontario has seen a quick decline in its moose population.

The report from the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario shows the number of moose in the province has dropped 20 per cent in the last decade. Commissioner Dianne Saxe says one of the reasons behind this is the warmer climate.

However, Saxe says moose calves have a higher survival rate in areas southeast of Algonquin Park.

Saxe says there are just over 92,000 moose in Ontario now. In the early 2000s, there were 115,000. Click here to see the report.
