A meeting is coming up to look into how to address poverty and injustice in rural parts of Hastings and Prince Edward counties. North Hastings Community Trust will be hosting a meeting of the Poverty Roundtable of Hastings Prince Edward. Director of the Poverty Round Table Christine Durant says the goal is to get insight from those living in poverty and those working with them to determine how it is affecting the area. //www.mybancroftnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Poverty-Round-Table-Bancroft-1.mp3 According to results from the 2016 Census, Statscan reports that 16.3 per cent of homes in Hastings County are considered low-income. That number has gone up since the last census in 2011. Durant says a lot of people do not find these figures surprising. //www.mybancroftnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Poverty-Round-Table-Bancroft-2.mp3 Everyone is invited to attend the free Poverty Round Table meeting coming up at St. Paul’s United Church in Bancroft from 2:00pm to 4:00pm next Wednesday, September 27th.
