Summer 2017 definitely unusual; cooler with less rain than normal

Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says summer 2017 was definitely unusual.

Kimbell tells Moose FM that, although it may have seemed like there was a lot of rain, there was actually less of it than normal this year.

Summer may have also seemed a bit cooler than usual, which Kimbell says was probably the case.

Kimbell says a low pressure system which hung around Eastern Ontario caused the slightly-below-average temperatures in the North Hastings area. The heat wave in September was caused by a high pressure system in the region.

Kimbell says you can expect more seasonal weather in the area going forward, which will mean cooler temperatures, and the likelihood of snow before October’s over.
