Bancroft OPP Staff Sergeant Tim Spence has announced he will be retiring at the end of the month. Spence has been the Staff Sergeant since last October, and was Bancroft’s Acting Staff Sergeant since November 30th 2015.
However, Spence’s two year tenure as Bancroft’s Staff Sergeant is not sitting well with Bancroft’s Community Safety and Well-Being Committee. Chair Charles Mullett says, because the term was so short, the committee has sent a letter to the OPP.
Mullett says it would be beneficial to the area to have a Staff Sergeant stick around for more than two years.
Sergeant Jeff McKinnon will take on the role as Acting Staff Sergeant while the OPP looks to find a permanent replacement for Spence.
